Smart India Hackathon 2018
The grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018 was held at Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran. The Smart India Hackathon aimed to find solutions to the problems of ministries and government departments by generating new ideas from students. The campaign is led by Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry through All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as the main anchor.
AICTE choose 28 nodal centres across the country and we are proud to share the fact that our college – Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran was chosen for the second year consecutively for such a novel and amiable initiative. The Grand Finale of SIH 2018 at Chandigarh Engineering College witnessed a unique blend of students along with their mentors from different states of the country. Dr. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE, graced the inaugural ceremony at CGC Landran as Chief Guest. The event continued for 36 hours and 41 teams that turned up for the competition worked tenaciously towards their aim. The solutions were evaluated by the respective ministries and industry experts, and the best solutions were awarded Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000/- and Rs 50,000/- for the top three teams, respectively.
Yoga Session/ Midnight Flash mob (Zumba Dance) was fully enjoyed by the participants. The zeal of the Coordinators caught the eye of all the participants. They were happy to participate as it was a rejuvenating experience for them which helped them to stay focused to their work. The valedictory ceremony of SIH2018 at CGC Landran was graced by Chief Guest, Mr. K.S. Srinivas, Joint Secy. (IT), Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers’ Welfare. The cultural event at the Valedictory function was richly appreciated by one and all that exhibited the diverse hues of Indian culture which included Rajasthani, Himachali, Gujrati and Punjabi folk dances.
Overall, entire team of CEC, who worked incessantly day and night for the successful conduct of the event was exceedingly appreciated for the top notch arrangements with participants carrying treasured memories along with them.
