With more than 19 years of teaching and corporate experience Dr H S Saini carries a vision of transforming Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran into a hub of research and technology. He aspires to produce the best of engineers and researchers for making it a home to excellence.

He developed a top rank institution which under his guidance managed to achieve a rare distinction of being an NBA accredited institute. With a similar vision Dr. Saini has pledged to make Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran as Sate of Art research hub which will produce quality research scholars in near future. He also pledged that with the dedicated efforts of team members at CEC, he can repeat the achievement of getting accredited CEC from NBA within a short span of time.

Holding M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering with distinction he has made a mark for himself in the field of education. He also holds the distinction of being the only Principal of an engineering college in the state of Punjab to have done his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering. He did his doctorate in web based expert systems and has vast 10 years research experience in innovative fields such as knowledge management, web technologies and fuzzy logic systems. With a noble thought to take knowledge to the students, Dr. Saini acts a R&D mentor for Ph.D and M.Tech students. His guidance has inspired students to take hardcore software projects which ultimately lead to their successful placements in Microsoft R & D, Oracle, IBM

Dr. Saini being consultant to reputed MNC’s has lead the way in developing various softwares which are currently being marketed by them. Being a lover of innovation Dr Saini initiated and implemented EduPlus (a SW project) for training managements and improved productivity, quality and results. He also designed and practiced state-of-art procedure to evaluate trainers and trainees to make trainings effective. He also started new trainings with ORACLE UNIVERSITY, PRAMATI TECHNOLOGIES (J2EE), Vitalscore and started GIST Labs (for incubation programs) and SW development.

Being a visiting professor to 2 reputed foreign universities he carries with himself a global vision to spread of education. Holding office bearer positions of Secretary and Vice-Chairman in Computer Society of India and IEEE, Hyderabad respectively he has played a key role in the field of developmental science and technology keeping an eye at the future..
He has been a part of many National Conferences Specially National Conference of CSI(Computer Society of India) and Digital Convergence for Quality Education. Dr Saini published and edited book of proceedings for the same. He has been a reviewer of Indian Journals and has participated in and reviewed papers of above 10 National and International Conferences. He has published/presented research papers in National and International Journals/Conferences.

Through my words I am sharing here gist of my experience with you. Each one of you carries a dream for attaining the untrempled pinnacles of glory in life. The path for realising this dream is hard we all know but it has been very well said by an author that THE WAY OUT OF EVERY PROBLEM IS THE WAY THROUGH. So you will have to pass through this purgatory in order to come out perfect professionals and I along with all the faculty members of CEC assure you of all out assistance for your success.

JUDGE YOURSELF

Choosing a professional career in industry is not difficult, but maintaining a successful career is a challenge always.
As you are taking a leap towards achieving your goals in life, make sure that you have honest answers to these questions:

Will you be serious and punctual in the studies you have chosen?
Are your efforts enough to fulfil your and your parent’s dreams?
Do you pledge to complete the allotted work on time?
Do you constantly try to develop your soft skills?
Do you posses the required professional behaviour, body language and courtesy?
Do you work towards improving your basic mathematical, analytical, problem solving and logical ability?
Are you working hard to achieve highest scores in your degree?
Are your adding additional technical skills in yourself and achieve addition certifications to be better than rest of crowd?

Self management and time management are two basic fundamentals for utilising ones own potential to fullest. Knowing ones potential and working religiously towards realisation of ones goals is first success in life. Further, timely acquisition of required professional skills leads to successful career.

Pre-Requisites As a Industry Prospective

Industry is always in search of hardworking, knowledgeable, innovative, smart, sincere and dedicated workers. Latest trends in the corporate world suggest that one has to be “employable” to be a part of an MNC. Today, companies cannot afford to choose and retain people possessing restricted knowledge and static personality. Industry is on look out for sharp, dynamic, inquisitive and innovative minds and also receptive and adaptive attitudes who can constantly update their knowledge domain.

Pre-Requisites Qualities As a Student

In order to understand your lectures well you will have to develop your fundamentals in all the subjects. It is the basics that are mostly asked in your job interview also. Using short cuts or unfair means for success is never going to help you in the long run. Always look for a friend in your books and library as it is your knowledge of a subject which is going to stand by you in challenging situations professionally. Giving proper respect to your teachers and elders is going to give you the much needed mental peace and support during your student life. Discipline is a pre-requisite for success in student life. So, maintain proper discipline to gain maximum out of your stay in college. “College property is your property” . Don’t spoil it. Keep yourself abreast of latest happenings in your field of interest so that you fare well during the interviews. Your personality, dressing sense, communication skills and body language are also going to play a vital part in your student as well as professional growth. Work hard to attain perfection in communication skills so that you are able to express your self better than others in fray.
Importantly, for being a successful student one has to work towards maintaining good health as it is a healthy body which carries a healthy mind.
The dream company you wish to join will be judging your performance on the basis of all above mentioned qualities and there is no substitute to them as there are no short cuts to success.
Possessing a B-Tech/MCA/BCA degree is not the only requirement and of today’s professional world. The factors which will help you in standing out amongst the others would be add-on’s features in terms of additional personality and technical skills in your CV. Stay ahead and be amongst the leaders skill set which can act as add-ons in your professional career for different streams of engineering are J2EE, Oracle, C/C++, .NET, CAD, ProEngg, UML, Rational Clear Case, Embedded Systems, VLSI Design, Linux, Open Source, Mobile Computing etc are few add on skills for students from respective fields.
