IEDC Cell organized Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp(EAC)
IEDC cell of CEC, Landran has organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) from 15-17 Oct 2018 at seminar hall of Block-1. The objective the camp was to create awareness among S&T students to opt Entrepreneurship as a career. The program comprised of 12 sessions each session of one hour duration. In the program students learnt how to open a new Enterprise (Business), to arrange funds, to market the product and students also got a chance to interact with entrepreneur(Mr. Dinesh, MD Siemens, Panchkula) through an Industrial visit at Siemens, Panchkula. The Camp was sponsored by EDII, Gandhinagar and NSTEDB under DST-NIMAT project.
NITTTR Sponsored Short Term Course (STC) On “Embedded Systems Design” through ICT
ECE Department organized a Short Term Course (STC) On “Embedded Systems Design” through ICT Sponsored by NITTTR from17th Sept. 2018 to 21st Sept. 2018 in Machine Vision lab (3rd floor of Block 1).
This programme was intended to provide the participants with a common platform to share the knowledge, experience, and innovation in the areas of embedded systems and also an opportunity to interact with eminent personalities working in these areas. Experts from renowned institutes like IIT Ropar, CSIO Chandigarh, CCET Chandigarh, and NITTTR Chandigarh imparted knowledge on topics like Embedded system concepts, Mechatronics, ES in IOT, Biomedical applications, Real-time interfacing and applications. This STC was attended by the faculty of engineering from CEC Landran and CGCTC Jhanjeri.
At the end of the programme, the participants were able to understand the basics behind the emerging techniques in the field of embedded systems to find new directions for further research.
ECE students Visited SIEMENS(IATC), Panchkula
The III- Cell (Industry Institute Interaction Cell) of ECE department organised an industrial visit to Siemens IATC, Panchkula for 3rd semester students of EF Section on 17 Sept, 2018. It is an Indian company which has sustained a dignified position in Automation Training Industry PAN INDIA on the basis of its tremendous efforts in providing the best trainings, Collaborations in the field of PLCs, Drives, Controls, HMI, Networks, Process Control, Analyzers and Instrumentation, Electrical and Power systems to the academia & Corporate world. This visit was coordinated by Mr. Sharad Tiwari and Ms. Shelly of ECE Department.
Initially the brief presentation of company profile by the company personnel was given. The different sections i.e PLC, SCADA, Drives, Panel Designing, Auto-CAD and MS-Projects, Embedded, VLSI, Robotics and Designing based equipments were shown to the students. The application of Artificial Intelligence wass demonstrated through some projects.
In the end, Various departments like Maintenance, Projects, Designing, R&D, Production and Erection & Commissioning Departments in Process and Assembly Manufacturing Units were shown to the students and the queries related to the same were handled by the expert. This visit was an excellent experience for gaining hands-on knowledge and training about the latest equipments in the automation industry for the students.
WORKSHOP ON PROTEOUS
Electronics Project Club of ECE Department organized ‘PROTEOUS WORKSHOP’ on 13th September, 2018 from 9:30 am to 4:00pm in Project lab II (3rd floor of Block 1) for 3rd semester students. 66 students of the department attended the workshop. This workshop attended by the students would help them to design a circuit using Proteous Software and to do the interfacing of various modules. They can utilize this software to design various projects.
ECE Students Visit to MARS Edpal Instrument Private Limited, Ambala
The department of Electronics and Communication organised an industrial visit to Mars Edpal instrument Private limited, Ambala for 5th semester students of AB and GH section on 13 Sept, 2018. It is an Indian company providing reliable quality and competitively priced Electronic, Electrical and Scientific Instruments. This visit was coordinated by Ms. Ashima Kalra and Mr. Ankur Garg .
The visit started with a brief presentation of the company profile by the concerned officials. The students were taken through different sections as in electrical systems, mechanical section, testing section and wiring section. Students saw the working of CNC machine, PLC’s and domestic wiring board etc in a special section. The company representatives addressed all the queries of students and explained them about the career opportunities in this sector. The visit proved to be very informative, enriching and provided a great learning experience to the students.
ECE Department organized a function on the occasion of Teachers Day
Electronics Project Club of ECE DEPARTMENT organised a function on the occasion of Teachers Day on 6th SEPT 2018 where students of 3rd and 5th SEM (members of ELECTRONICS PROJECT CLUB )organised fun games for the teachers as in memory test, yes or no, sari and tie competition in the seminar hall of block 1 from 12:30p.m. to 2:00p.m. HOD Electronics and Communication Department Dr.Mohit Shrivastva and all the faculty/ staff of block 1, were invited as guests for the occasion.
The students gave different tags to teachers as best smile, best apparel, best eyes, Mr/Ms Sympathetic and many more. Students performed different fun activities as skit , rap song on teachers and western dance.
The event concluded with a joint bhangra performance by teachers and students followed by a cake cutting ceremony.
ECE DEPARTMENT ORGANIZED TATVA 2K18
TPS-ECE DEPARTMENT organized its annual department fest TATAV 2k18 ON 30TH AUG 2018 in which students of 3RD ,5TH AND 7TH SEM participated in various cultural events held in CGC auditorium from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. Dr S.C Jain Ex Chairman-Dept of Chemical Engineering and Mr R.C Sharma, Regional Director DRDO were the chief guest for the occasion.
Honorable Chairman CGC, S Satnam Singh Sandhu, Campus Director Dr. P N Hrisheekesha and many dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence and shared their valuable thoughts with the students.
The students also showcased their projects. The prize winners of Technical and Non technical events of various Polytechnic colleges and Inter- Department level of CGC were also awarded with trophies and certificates on the same day.
TATVA 2k18 concluded with a splendid showcase of talents by students of ECE Department.
ECE students visited SIEMENS, IATC Panchkula
An industrial visit to Siemens, IATC, Panchkula was organized for B.Tech ECE 3rd Semester students of GH Section on 28th August, 2018. Siemens, IATC is an Indian company engaged in providing reliable quality and competitively priced Electronic, Electrical SCADA based PLC and other Automation based products and is engaged in giving training to the corporate sector engineers. They Train engineers on real time SCADA machines.
The students watched the products being manufactured at Siemens and explored how things are managed in the plant. The students visited Robotics and control department where various machineries were demonstrated to visualize the real time projects related to automation. They also saw the analog oscillators, working and operations. Troubleshooting department was also the part of visit.
The students were familiarized with Siemens products, SCADA, PLC System their need as well as how to fabricate and design them.
ECE Department organized Expert lecture on Fundamentals of MOSFET based Digital Design
An expert lecture on ´Fundamentals of MOSFET based Digital Design was organized by Electronics Project Club (EPC) of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for B.Tech. 3rd Semester students on 24th August, 2018. The Lecture was delivered by Dr. Rohit Y Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Ropar.
The students got familiarized with the basic concepts of Digital Design, concept of FET and MOSFET which will be helpful for them to know about universal gates and transistor and their role in fabrication. Apart from this Dr. Rohit also explained the PMOS, NMOS and CMOS. technologies.
ECE Department organized Industrial Visit to MARS Edpal Instrument Private Limited, Mohali
An industrial visit to Mars Edpal Instruments Private limited, Ambala was arranged for B.Tech ECE 3rd Semester students of AB & CD Section on 23rd August ,2018 . Mars EdPal Instruments Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian company engaged in providing reliable quality and competitively priced Electronic, Electrical and Scientific Instruments.
During the visit, the students observed how the products are being manufactured in the industry and how the fabrication process is done for all the analog and digital kits covering mainly laboratory standards & testing of the measuring instruments for Institutions, Industry and Research. The students learned how debugging is done. They also saw the troubleshooting of the electronic devices.
The students were familiarized with the basic components, their need, fabrication and designing them on bare PCB for digital and analog circuits.
Expert Talk on Intelligent Systems using Embedded Systems
An Expert talk was organized on 21.08.2018 for B.Tech. ECE 5th semester students of GH and IJ Section & 3rd Semester students of AB Section in the seminar hall of ECED at 1:00 pm. The Lecture was delivered by Er. Gurmeet Sharma of Eureka Electrosoft Solutions Private limited, Mohali on the topic “Intelligent systems design using the Embedded system”. He explained how a machine can be programmed with an embedded, Internet-connected computer, how big data can be analyzed and communicated with other systems. The lecture covered the capacity of intelligent systems to learn and gain from experience, security & connectivity and how it can be further utilized to make the system automatic.
The guest speaker also discussed the scope of Embedded systems in real world and explained how things are embedded dependent. Intelligent devices, Internet of things, Artificial Intelligence & interconnected collections of devices, including networks and other types of larger systems were discussed in the lecture.
The Artificial Intelligence-based software systems, such as chatbots, expert systems and other types of software were also discussed in the lecture. Queries of many students were handled by the expert.
Techcomm Professional Society Organized Youth Parliament 2k18
Techcomm Professional Society of Electronics & Communication Department organized Youth Parliament 2k18 on 10th August, 2018 in the seminar Hall of C.V. Raman Block. The topics for debate were 4 Years of BJP Government and BJP in 2019. The competition started at 9:25am in the morning which was inaugurated by Head of ECE Department along with Faculty and Student Coordinators of Techcomm Professional Society (a Government of Punjab registered society). Approximately 65 Students of the department participated in the competition. The objective of this competition was to develop excellent critical thinking skills of the participants because debate sharpens the ability to research and analyze problems, think and listen critically, express the thoughts clearly and fluently, and better understand public affairs. Winners were awarded with Cash Prizes, Trophies & Certificates.
