About AICTE-IDEA Lab at CEC-CGC Landran, Mohali
Chandigarh Engineering College-CGC Landran, Mohali with a rich legacy of 25 years of academic excellence, proudly announces the establishment of the AICTE–IDEA Lab, reinforcing its sustained commitment to innovation and skill-based technical education. The AICTE–IDEA Lab is an initiative of AICTE to promote innovation, creativity and experiential learning in technical education. The lab provides an open and collaborative ecosystem for students to design, develop and build innovative solutions. It encourages the application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fundamentals through hands-on and project-based learning. The IDEA Lab emphasizes the philosophy of “Learning by Doing” and outcome-based education. The lab aims to strengthen 21st century skill sets-critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking and teamwork by enabling students to work on real-world engineering problems through interdisciplinary project execution. The facility supports innovation, research, skill development, and entrepreneurship. It strengthens product visualization, rapid prototyping, and technology integration capabilities.
Vision
The Idea Lab strives to be a transformative space where creativity thrives, and culture of innovation and collaboration develops and inspire as well as empower individuals to ideate, prototype as well as implement solutions to pressing global challenges.
Mission
The mission of a AICTE-IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation and Application) Lab is to empower students, faculty and other stakeholders by developing critical thinking and complex problem solving abilities, while providing all facilities under one roof and training to convert ideas into reality.
Objectives
- Promote Innovation and Creativity: IDEA Lab provides a platform for students to explore their ideas, experiment with different technologies and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.
- Encourage Hands-on Learning: By offering access to a range of tools and equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters and electronics kits, these labs enable students to build prototypes and gain practical experience.
- Develop Problem-Solving Skills: Through project-based learning and collaborative work, students learn to identify challenges, analyze information and develop effective solutions.
- Support New Age Learning: The lab emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to engage with technology and develop skills relevant to the 21st century.
- Transform Engineering Education: By integrating innovation and practical application into the curriculum, IDEA Lab aims to modernize engineering education and prepare students for future challenges.
Why IDEA Lab at CEC-CGC
The institute have facilities such as
- ACIC Supported by NITI Aayog which supports startup ideas services through incubation centre.
- Boudhik Sampada (IPR) This cell provides support to faculty, staff, and students in safeguarding their intellectual property rights through guidance and facilitation services.
Furthermore, with the establishment of the IDEA Lab and its collaboration with these services, innovative ideas can be transformed into reality through the development of functional prototypes.
