Smart India Hackathon
The Smart India Hackathon aims to find solution to the problems of Ministries, Government departments, NGOs and industries by generating new ideas from students. Also, Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. The campaign is led by Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry through All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as the main anchor.
The five editions of Smart India Hackathon proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation, out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students from across India. CEC-CGC, Landran, Mohali witnessed and partnered the success of all the six editions by holding the grand finales in the campus. The institute had the privilege of interfacing with hounourable Prime Minister of India Sh Narendra Modi during the inaugural ceremony of SIH.

Smart India Hackathon Grand Finale - 2023
33 teams consisting of more than 200+ students including their mentors from across India, hailing from Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Telangana and Karnataka converged at Nodal Center, Chandigarh Engineering College-CGC, Landran, Mohali to compete in the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023 (SIH 2023) - software edition, on 19th & 20th December, 2023. SIH 2023 offered 231 problem statements received from 51 departments of 25 Ministries. 12,000+ participants participated in national level, SIH 2023 grand finale. A total of 1,282 teams were shortlisted for the grand finale to provide solutions on various themes including Space Technology, Smart Education, Disaster Management, Robotics and Drones, Heritage and Culture etc. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed and interacted with the participants during the finale via video conferencing.
Internal Smart India Hackathon- SIH 2023
Internal Smart India Hackathon-SIH 2023 was successfully conducted at our institute and more than 300 teams gave innovative solutions to the problem statements shared under SIH and around 150 were short-listed for Internal Smart India Hackathone-2023 which was thoroughly evaluated by the panel of judges including experts from Industry, Alumni and Faculty. The selected teams are going to rigorously compete to represent CEC-CGC in the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2023.
Smart India Hackathon 2022
CEC-CGC, Landran, Mohali was proud to be among one of the 8 centres that was chosen for interaction with Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi ji for Smart India Hackathon 2022. The PM interacted with Harmanjot Singh, winner of Junior SIH.
Among the dignitaries, we had Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Director, Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, GoI and our Chairman Satnam Singh Sandhu.
Smart India Hackathon 2020
Our institute hosted a virtual inauguration to mark the beginning of 3-day Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020 Software Edition (Online) being one of the nodal centers. Our Chairman Satnam Singh Sandhu along with the other management officials and faculty extended their warm regards to the Government of India for this incredible initiative and also encouraged the participants. The Chief Guest for the institutional inauguration was Dr. Harpreet Singh, Professor and Dean, (ICSR) Indian Institute of Technology Ropar also addressed the participants and motivated them for the 36-hour competition. It was a moment of immense pride for us as Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted virtually with the students of CEC-CGC during Day 1 of the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020 Software Edition (online). Two teams of CEC-CGC students namely AgroHyders and Techtitans made to the finale. PM Modi ji discussed the problem statements and gave his insightful suggestions on the same during the interaction.
Smart India Hackathon 2019
The institute was proud to welcome Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director, MHRD's Innovation Cell in campus as guest of honour. He interacted with all the teams and boosted their morale. Addressing the delegates from all 29 teams, Dr. Gambhir applauded their efforts and appreciated their zeal to come up with innovative solutions to some pressing challenges which the country faces. He commended CEC-CGC for being an excellent host and appreciated the collaborative role of private players along with government entities in making the 3rd edition of SIH-2019 successful.
Smart India Hackathon 2018
The institute is proud to host Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018 for 2nd consecutive year. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr MP Poonia, Honourable Vice Chairman, AICTE.
