The Department of Information Technology organized an Alumni Talk on 24th July 2026 to provide students with practical guidance on placement preparation and career growth in the IT industry. The session was delivered by Mr. Saiyam Chawla, a Senior Software Developer at Target Integration in IT industry. He began by explaining how students should start their placement preparation, the importance of building strong technical skills and DSA, and how CGPA and marks, along with non-tech job opportunities, should not be overlooked while depending only on college resources. He shared valuable insights on placement preparation, the Software Developer role, building an online presence, and his own interview experience, which proved highly beneficial for the students. On placements, he explained that the number of backlogs/attempts often decides shortlisting, and that companies look for accountability, teamwork, communication skills, and an active online presence. He also spoke about his own interview experience a three-round process covering DSA and interview rounds through which he received offers from multiple companies including IBM and Target Integration in IT Industry. During the interactive Q&A, students asked questions on comparing themselves with peers and time management, to which he advised students not to compare their journey with others and to focus on learning how to learn and manage time effectively.
