The AICTE-IDEA Lab at Chandigarh Engineering College (CGC), Landran, Mohali, successfully organized a 12-day Professional Skilling Programme on Design, Fabrication, and Innovation Technologies from 1st June to 12th June 2026 for students who had completed their 10th or 12th standard. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application by providing early exposure to modern design, digital fabrication, and Industry 4.0 technologies through a blend of expert lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on training.
Participants gained practical experience in Design Thinking, product development, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and 3D modelling, followed by prototype fabrication using FDM 3D printing. They were also introduced to laser cutting, CNC router machining, PCB design and fabrication, soldering techniques, and embedded systems prototyping, enabling them to understand the complete product development cycle from concept to functional prototype. Interactive project-based activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and innovation while helping students apply theoretical concepts to solve real-world engineering problems.
The programme also highlighted the significance of digital manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and entrepreneurship in today's technology-driven environment. Throughout the training, participants actively engaged in practical sessions, demonstrating enthusiasm and curiosity toward emerging technologies. Overall, the programme successfully enhanced students' technical knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in using modern fabrication tools, while fostering innovation, problem-solving abilities, and an entrepreneurial mindset, thereby preparing them for future academic pursuits and careers in engineering and technology.
