The AICTE-IDEA Lab at Chandigarh Engineering College (CGC), Landran, Mohali, organized a six-day Skill Development Programme on Digital Design, Slicing and 3D Printing from 25th to 30th May 2026. The programme aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge of digital manufacturing through a combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on training.
Students from engineering and technology backgrounds actively participated in sessions covering the fundamentals of additive manufacturing, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), slicing software, and Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printing. Participants learned to create 3D models, generate STL files, optimize printing parameters, and operate FDM printers for prototype fabrication.
The programme emphasized experiential learning by allowing participants to perform printer setup, calibration, material loading, troubleshooting, and post-processing of printed components. Practical activities helped them understand the complete workflow of digital design and additive manufacturing while enhancing their technical and problem-solving skills.
The key objectives were to develop CAD modelling skills, provide hands-on experience in 3D printing, promote rapid prototyping and innovation, and familiarize participants with Industry 4.0 manufacturing practices.
