The AICTE-IDEA Lab at Chandigarh Engineering College (CGC), Landran, Mohali, successfully organized a Six-Day Skilling Programme on IDEA Lab Tools and Equipment from 29th June to 4th July 2026. The programme aimed to provide participants with practical exposure to advanced engineering tools and technologies used in design, digital fabrication, rapid prototyping, machining, electronics, and product development. It was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application through expert-led sessions, live demonstrations, and hands-on training. Participants from diverse academic backgrounds actively engaged in the programme and gained valuable experience in operating modern laboratory equipment while understanding its industrial applications.
The training covered key areas such as additive manufacturing, FDM 3D printing, slicing software and STL file preparation, laser cutting and engraving, CNC routing, PCB milling and prototyping, wood cutting lathe, Dremel Moto-Saw, circular saw, jig saw, reflow oven for PCB assembly, and digital signal oscilloscope. These practical sessions enabled students to understand the complete product development process, from concept generation and computer-aided design to fabrication, assembly, testing, and validation. The programme also emphasized innovation, creativity, design thinking, multidisciplinary learning, and laboratory safety practices. Through project-oriented activities and experiential learning, participants enhanced their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in handling advanced engineering equipment. Overall, the programme proved to be a highly enriching learning experience, equipping students with essential practical skills and preparing them for future academic, industrial, and entrepreneurial opportunities in emerging technologies.
